Special things in this festival are vinayagar statue,kodai, kozhukattai, sundal, makka cholam, kabhu, pori, owel, arughampul, erugampoo, some fruits, etc. The main item will be sundal and kozhukattai. In all house they used to make this and pray to Vinayagar.
This year in our street we clebrate this function grantly. Our 10th Street people used to be friendly and unity. Especially during festival time we used to celebrate in group. In this vinayagar chathurthi our 10th Street boys collected money from our street people and decide to celebrate grantly. We got enought money to celebrate this festival.
From the colected money we bought vinayagar statue, hiered serial lights, fruits, adn we got extra money so we planned to put annadhanam to people on 4th september. The reason is most people will cok special items and food on vinayagar chathurthi so we planned this annadhanam on next day of vinayagar chathurthi.
We got a right place to place vinayagar statue and decorated the place befor the vinayagar chathurthi. Have look at this place.
We decorated our street and started the celebration. All the boys in our street worked together and aranged the street to look better.
I must say this now that i didnt work with them r do any other thing. I stayed away from them.
Any how they r my street guys. Finally on 3rd sep on the celebration day, we just made sundal, sweet pongal, and kozhukattai and celebrated the day. At this function all people had a great time and fun and come united. The function ended friendly on 3rd sep.
The next day very excited day because we planned to put annadhanam and prepared food for 100 people. On 4th sep 4:00p.m we started to prepare food. We called one catering guy to prepare sambar sadham and potato curry. With the collected money we hiered gas stove, vessels, and bought food items to prepare food. Some people came and joined to work and helped to prepared the food. At 7:00p.m we arranged one iyer and he made small pooja for this vinayagar. At 7:30 end of pooja we had some paper plate we distributed the food with it all the people tasted it and we had a great time. We also planned to planned to make this celebration for 9days. Each day any one has to prepare some food itema and distribute to people.

Excellent work done by you people. Thats how festivals are supposed to be celebrated, not like having it done within the concrete walls of your house.
Now-a-days festivals are just 10 mins of worship and 10 hours of sitting before the idiot box watching programs totally irrelevant with the day.(what has namitha's interview got to do with vinayak's bday? .. Oh wait, Vinayak is ondi katta and namitha is natu katta, amazing connect !!)
Hats off to that 'Annadhanam' thing. You people are those youth referred by Dr.APJ . Seriously. I wish you get more funds for your future endeavors.. :)
